Escondido Kids' Club
Escondido Kids' Club (EKC) is located on-site at Escondido Elementary School, offering daily after-school care to children in kindergarten through fifth grade.
We strive to offer a relaxed family setting wherein each child engages in activities that foster both problem solving and social interaction skills, encouraging each child to develop a healthy self esteem and positive attitude toward others.
The program places an emphasis on individual growth by nurturing responsible social behavior and negotiation skills.
The staff at EKC is dedicated to the well-being of children. They are warm, competent and approachable. Our program is accredited by the National AfterSchool Association (NAA), demonstrating the staff's hard work and efforts in creating a quality child care setting.
Center Activities
Many of the children attending Escondido Elementary School are enrolled in the school's Spanish Immersion Program in which they spend their days learning in Spanish. Diversity plays an important role at EKC. Through the program the staff at EKC integrates different languages, music, and stories into the children's daily routines.
The children participate in a center "group game" which allows all the children to interact with the different ages. The older children mentor the younger ones and the younger children look to the older children for guidance. The relationship they form is a valuable one, where they all learn to appreciate one another and learn what the different age groups have to offer.
Every year we facilitate an annual community service project. All the children participate in the activities, but it is the older children who are in charge of the project, i.e. coming up with ideas, organizing the events. We work with them to understand what it means to be part of a community and the importance of giving back.
We offer special activities on the Wednesday minimum days. They are given the opportunity to do more than the normal activities, such as cooking projects, clay modeling, jewelry making, yoga, etc.
Children at EKC are provided with daily activities and outside time, as well as supervised homework time and nutritious snacks.
Parent Involvement and Participation
Each family receives a monthly newsletter, weekly updates, and a calendar of snacks and events. Snacks are provided by the center and are available when your child arrives each day. We keep parents updated of all important information, reminders, and events through email and posted in our Parent Center.
We like to get to know our families and like them to be involved in our program. We have potlucks and family fun nights throughout the year. We also have many fundraising events. One of our favorites is "Kids' Night Out," in which your children stay with us for an evening of fun while parents go out for a quiet night with out the kiddies!
