Barron Park Kids' Club
Barron Park Kids' Club (BPKC) fosters the development of the whole child through its fun, safe, consistent and nurturing atmosphere provided by caring staff dedicated to the field of after school care. Our curriculum offers a wide range of enriched activities each day such as arts, sports, science, games, dramatic play, music, and literature.
We place special emphasis on the social and emotional development of each child by establishing and relying upon strong relationships among BPKC teachers, children and families. We promote respect and self-esteem by building community and celebrating the uniqueness of each child.
Center Activities
BPKC is located on the edge of the beautiful Barron Park Elementary School campus. We utilize two main rooms, one which is geared towards our K-2nd graders and the other towards our 3rd-5th graders.
We regularly access the two large play structures as well as the beautiful grass field. Children of all ages explore and play together throughout these areas. We also take advantage of surrounding community resources, especially Bol Park.
Our curriculum is planned within the context of weekly themes. These themes help to firmly connect the children to the natural, cultural and social world around them. The development of community spirit and respect for others is woven throughout everything we do. By way of daily art projects, cooking activities, outside games, special events, cooperative activities and free choice in a rich environment the children build skills and relationships with each other.
Because the program strives to accommodate the development needs of all ages, a child's opportunity for growth and development continually changes as they get older. We also provide a nutritious and delicious snack for the children each day. Our snack time provides the opportunity to build relationships, develop independence, learn about nutrition, and practice our manners.
We are very lucky to have Barron Park Children's Center, a PACCC preschool program, as our next-door neighbor. We enjoy occasional picnics and activities together, and also conduct an "Activity Partners" program, in which fourth and fifth graders plan and lead weekly projects with our three and four year old friends.
Parent Involvement and Participation
Barron Park Kids' Club is a unique and diverse community with many backgrounds, cultures and languages. We base our program on this rich foundation and rely on the input and contributions of our families who share their cultures, experiences and special talents with us.
