Commitment to Quality
PACCC's commitment to quality goes beyond traditional child care and focuses on child development. Our staff work cooperatively with each other, our client families and the children we serve in order to create child care programs that provide for social, emotional and cognitive growth.
National Association for the Education of Young Children
All of PACCC's infant, toddler and preschool programs are committed to The National Association for the Education of Young Children's (NAEYC) accreditation standards of quality in all areas, including:
- Interactions among staff and children
- Staff and parent interactions
- Staff qualifications and development
- Health and safety
For more information on NAEYC, please go to www.naeyc.org
Please look at each program's information page regarding current NAEYC Accreditation status.
Desired Results
Desired Results is a results-based accountability system for center-based programs and family child care home networks funded by the State of California's Child Development Division (CDD).
The system involves a set of tools for helping administrators and staff review, evaluate and reflect on their program practices in order to provide better care. Desired Results provides concrete information based on teacher observations and parent feedback.
Staff Training and Education
All PACCC staff members meet or exceed state licensing requirements for staff qualifications. PACCC values continued learning and encourages ongoing training and education for all staff.
We provide regularly scheduled workshops and seminars as well as one staff development day per year. We encourage staff to enroll in Early Childhood Education classes by reimbursing them for the cost of tuition for those courses.
Choosing Quality Child Care
When choosing the best care for your child, you will want to visit as many programs as you can and ask questions. Take your child with you when possible.
Here are some things you may want to consider:
- Is the facility licensed? Ask to see the license.
- Are there enough caregivers to supervise the children? (check ratios) State required ratios are:
0 – 2 years, 1 teacher:4 children; 2 years – kindergarten entry, 1:12; school age, 1:15.
PACCC's ratios are: Infant/Toddler 1:4; Preschool at ETCC, DCC, and BPCC 1:6; Preschool at CTC and STCDC 1:8; Kinders 1:8; and School Age 1:10 - Do the caregivers have training in child development?
- Do caregivers respond and talk to all children in a positive, warm, understanding way?
- How long have the staff been in the program?
- Does the daily routine meet the needs of your child?
- Are the children read to and talked to?
- Is the facility safe, clean and free of health hazards? Is the equipment in good repair?
- Is there a routine for exchanging pertinent information which may be affecting you child's behavior and well being?
- Are parents welcome in the center at any time?
