Intergenerational Program

Friends, Teens, and Grandparents, we need you!
PACCC is in need of volunteers for our child care centers and for ongoing intergenerational activities. We are looking for volunteers who relate well to children (individually or in groups) aged two months through 5th grade. At our 17 unique centers, we build community through many activities - theater, cooking, reading, gardening, and playing. Anyone, ages 14 to 100, who is willing to give time, share talents & interests, and develop projects, please apply.

All PC volunteers receive a free yearly membership or renewal!

The Provider Connection is always looking for volunteers to work 2-4 hours a month to help us:

  • Extend our hours - evenings, daytime and weekend hours available
  • Inventory
  • Check in toys and other materials
  • Assist with fundraising efforts
  • Assist with CARES processing
  • newsletter mailings

The Volunteer Intergenerational Program
The word “intergenerational” can take on several meanings here at PACCC. At our Infant, Toddler and Preschool programs, we find that middle-school and high-school volunteers suddenly become “grownups” when they relate to two-, three-, and or four-year-olds. And senior volunteers offer mentorship to the teens as much as to the toddlers. The relationships that develop as they play, share stories, or explore their talents in music, art, or cooking are developmentally invaluable (for the children, teens and seniors alike!).

Relationships are the basis of growth for the human being. From birth through old age, we depend on the quality of our relationships for emotional, physical, and psychological well being.

Volunteer Coordinator, Sheila Mandoli

Diversity of age, language, culture, race, interest and experience can only serve to stimulate and strengthen relationships…and the quality of those relationships can be enhanced both in group settings and one-on-one. Young and old have similar needs that can be met by sharing of our increasingly limited resources.

Why Join the Program?
Participating in PACCC’s Volunteer Intergenerational Program is one of the most rewarding ways to contribute to your community and make a difference in a child’s life. As one volunteer put it, “I come home from volunteering with far more love and laughter than I give.” In addition, many of today’s children and teens have little or no opportunity to know or interact with elders. PACCC’s Volunteer Intergenerational Program keeps generations connected and fosters understanding and compassion between them.

Do you know an elder or teen that could benefit from gaining VIP status? If so, please call Sheila Mandoli at the PACCC offices, (650) 493-2361, ext. 19.
