Sojourner Truth Infant–Toddler Program
Sojourner Truth Child Development Center (STCDC) is named after Sojourner Truth (1797-1833), a woman who, as a child and young adult, lived in slavery and who later, as a free woman, crusaded to abolish slavery and promote women's rights.
STCDC's Infant-Toddler Program emphasizes play-based care in a family-friendly environment and offers a variety of full and part-time options to choose from. We also work closely with STCDC's on–site Preschool Program in order to meet children's needs as they grow and mature.
The goal of STCDC's Infant–Toddler Program is to provide an atmosphere that is child–directed and play–based, supported by our nurturing and experienced staff. We believe that when a caregiver and young child are in tune, many crucial things begin to happen. Love and respect are expressed to the child, trust is established with the child, and confidence is instilled in the child. Children learn they are important and that what they do makes a difference.
Center Activities
Caregiving routines at STCDC are performed with sensitivity and respect for the child, and ensure health, safety and comfort. We believe that every moment is an educational moment, and take advantage of daily opportunities for learning offered by scheduled activities.
Children at STCDC participate in painting, music, water play, and other activities designed to improve small and large motor skills. We have beautiful infant and toddler yards, and regularly take children outside for free play or walks.
