Community Support

Palo Alto Weekly Holiday Fund
PACCC would like to thank the Palo Alto Weekly Holiday Fund for their generous grant of $10,000, to be used for re-flooring Sojourner Truth Child Development Center's infant and toddler rooms. Thanks to the Holiday Fund's grant, the center has received new carpet, linoleum and laminate flooring, creating a safer and more attractive environment for our children and staff.

The Palo Alto Weekly Holiday Fund is a unique partnership between the Palo Alto Weekly and local foundations. Last year, $280,000 was raised from over 700 people in the community, and 56 local groups received grants to support their programs. The Holiday Fund has supported many of PACCC's projects in the past, and we are grateful for their continued assistance.

Woman's Club of Palo Alto
Thanks to a generous grant of $1,500 from the Woman's Club of Palo Alto, PACCC has been able to purchase new books to update and improve our center libraries. Funds were used to purchase new books for Downtown Children's Center, Sojourner Truth Child Development Center and Walter Hays Kids' Club. Thank you Woman's Club of Palo Alto for supporting PACCC's programs!

Silicon Valley Association of Realtors (SILVAR)
At an April meeting of area realtors, the Silicon Valley Realtors Charitable Foundation presented a $4,000 check to PACCC. The grant, which was made possible in part by the Heritage Bank of Commerce, will go to support our new pilot program, Math Matinee. Math Matinee will work with children, parents and teachers on age-appropriately introducing pre-math concepts to young children. This exciting math readiness program for preschoolers will begin at Sojourner Truth Child Development Center in September.

The Realtor Foundation administers funds raised by the members of the Silicon Valley Association of Realtors (SILVAR), Silicon Valley's real estate trade association (www.silvar.org). SILVAR realtors support a large variety of community projects and organizations on the Peninsula. Thank you SILVAR for your generous gift!

Greater Bay Bancorp Foundation
PACCC would like to thank the Greater Bay Bancorp Foundation for their generous grant of $4,000, to be used for re-flooring Sojourner Truth Child Development Center's infant and toddler rooms. Thanks to the Foundation's grant, the center has received new carpet, linoleum and laminate flooring, creating a safer and more attractive environment for our children and staff.

Established in 1998, the Greater Bay Bancorp Foundation has given over $5 million to more than 600 local organizations. Directors, officers and staff actively participate in a number of these organizations by giving their time as volunteers. The Foundation has been continuously supportive of PACCC's endeavors, for which we are very grateful.

Peninsula Community Foundation
Thanks to a generous $25,000 grant from Peninsula Community Foundation (PCF), PACCC has upgraded its accounting software to a windows-based program. The accounting system formerly used by PACCC is a 15-year-old DOS program nearing obsolescence. Funds from PCF's grant will enable us to purchase new software and equipment, increasing staff productivity, organizational effectiveness and customer service.

The mission of the Peninsula Community Foundation is to connect people, ideas and resources for the common good. Today, PCF is one of the largest and fastest-growing community foundations in the country. The Foundation stewards 550 charitable funds with more than $478 million in assets, and awards nearly $65 million to 1,500 organizations per year. PACCC has been fortunate enough to work with the Foundation in the past, and we are very appreciative of their continued support.

Kiwanis Club of Palo Alto
PACCC would like to thank the Kiwanis Club of Palo Alto for their continuous support of our programs. With the help of the Kiwanis Club, the new infant yard at Sojourner Truth Child Development Center is now complete! The babies at Sojourner now have a safe deck to play on, and plenty of shade for those hot summer days.

Over the past four years, the Kiwanis Club of Palo Alto has given generously in time and money to PACCC's programs. They have replaced or improved the majority of PACCC's infant, toddler and preschool playgrounds, and have made bicycle helmets available to families who were unable to afford them. The Kiwanis Club has also rebuilt the fence at College Terrace Children's Center.

The Kiwanis Club of Palo Alto has served the Palo Alto and Stanford communities for the past 79 years. Members of the club pride themselves on being hands-on supporters of the community, a fact that we at PACCC can attest to! Thank you again to the Kiwanis Club of Palo Alto for your continuous support.

Morgan Family Foundation
PACCC is pleased to announce that it has received a $45,000 challenge grant from the Morgan Family Foundation, benefiting the Child Development Subsidy Program. For every $1 raised by PACCC for the Subsidy Program, the Morgan Family Foundation will donate $1, up to a total gift of $45,000. To make a donation to the Subsidy Program and have your contribution matched, please visit this site, or contact Keri Gardner, Director of Development, at 650-493-2361 (ext. 27).

A family foundation established in 1993, the Morgan Family Foundation focuses its giving on youth, the environment, education, and stewardship. We are very grateful to the Foundation, as this is a wonderful opportunity for PACCC to grow this much-needed program.

Palo Alto Community Fund
PACCC recently received a $10,000 grant from the Palo Alto Community Fund, which will be used to provide summer care for local school-aged children. This grant will allow the children of low-income, working families to attend developmental summer programs while their parents work or attend school.

The Palo Alto Community Fund builds and sustains a philanthropic endowment that responds to the goals and needs of the community by supporting new or existing programs. The Fund works with a broad range of Palo Alto area non-profit organizations, and is a previous supporter of PACCC. Thank you to the Palo Alto Community Fund for your continued support!
