Escondido Kids’ Club Goals and Objectives
Escondido Kids’ Club (EKC) is located on-site at Escondido Elementary School, offering daily after-school care to children in kindergarten through fifth grade. We strive to offer a relaxed family setting, where each child engages in activities that foster both problem solving and social interaction skills, encouraging each child to develop a healthy self esteem and positive attitudes toward others. The program places an emphasis on individual growth by nurturing responsible social behavior and negotiation skills.
The staff at EKC is dedicated to the well-being of children, and are warm, competent and approachable. Our program is accredited by the National AfterSchool Association (NAA), demonstrating the staff’s hard work and efforts in creating a quality child care setting.
Escondido Kids’ Club Activities
Many of the children attending Escondido Elementary School are enrolled in the school’s Spanish Immersion Program, in which they spend their days learning in Spanish. As such, diversity plays an important role at EKC. In an effort to encourage the exploration of different cultures, we have implemented a new “World of Color” program. Through the program, the staff at EKC integrates different languages, music and stories into the children’s daily routines. The program highlights a new country each week, helping children learn about their ancestors’ homelands.
Children at EKC are provided with daily activities and outside time, as well as supervised homework time and nutritious snacks.
Parent Information and Participation
EKC has recently formed a Parent Board and works closely with members to bring fresh ideas to the program. The “World of Color” program is a result of brainstorming among EKC staff, parents and representatives from Escondido Elementary School. The center also involves parents in social events such as pot-luck dinners.
