Duveneck Kids’ Club Goals and Objectives
Duveneck Kids’ Club (DKC) is conveniently located on the Duveneck Elementary School campus in two spacious portable rooms (the Sun Room and the Moon Room).
DKC was accredited in May 2002 by the National AfterSchool Association (NAA), and works hard to provide quality child care for the surrounding community. Our staff strives to create an environment that offers children a setting of warmth and security, while fostering independence and initiative by allowing freedom of choice and the assumption of responsibility within set limits.
DKC’s primary goal is to provide a non-discriminatory, friendly place where all children have the chance to grow and to respect one another. We place an emphasis on individual growth by nurturing responsible social behavior, negotiation skills and problem solving through interaction with our competent, understanding staff.
Duveneck Kids’ Club Activities
The program at DKC provides daily themes to keep children involved and active. Mondays are kids’ choice days, arts and crafts are offered on Tuesday, multicultural cooking on Wednesday, science and exploration on Thursday, and sports and games on Friday. Along with themed activities, we also provide a Spanish enrichment program on Wednesdays and a Lego Robotics enrichment program on Thursdays.
Children are provided with nutritious snacks daily, as well as a quiet space for homework. In the spring of 2005, we completed a stage in the Moon Room for the children to act out plays and do puppet shows.
Parent Information and Participation
Each family receives a monthly newsletter and calendar of activities, snacks, and events. Snacks are provided by the center and are available when your child arrives each day.
Families are encouraged to become involved with the program. We host fundraisers throughout the year, as well as two family potluck events.
