Addison Kids’ Club Goals and Objectives
AKC’s primary goal is to provide a place that is both safe and nurturing for each child. Our program includes varied activities that will challenge and encourage children. While participating in these activities, children learn to mature in problem solving skills, enhance self-esteem and pursue healthy relationships with peers and adults. Our philosophy is to create an environment that offers children a setting of warmth and security, while fostering independence and initiative by allowing freedom of choice and the assumption of responsibility within set limits.
AKC achieved accreditation with the National AfterSchool Association (NAA) in July of 2000 and re-accreditation in May of 2003. Additionally, our staff has over 31 years of combined experience. We work closely with Addison Elementary School to ensure easy and safe transitions from school to our program, and have a strong relationship with the staff and principal at the school.
Addison Kids’ Club Activities
The curriculum at AKC involves daily teacher-led activities, such as sewing pillows or woodworking, as well as free choice activities. Children have the option of working together on an ongoing puzzle, exploring their creative side with arts and crafts, or participating in a group game. Through these activities, children of different ages have a chance to interact and build teamwork skills.
Parent Information and Participation
Each family receives a monthly newsletter and calendar of activities, snacks, and events. Snacks are provided by the center and are available when your child arrives each day.
We love for families to get involved in our program. We have four potlucks and family fun nights throughout the year. We also have many fundraising events. One of our favorites is “Kids’ Night Out”, in which your children stay with us for an evening of fun while parents go out.
