We provide a child-centered and play-oriented environment where the development of the whole child is fostered by a caring staff. All of our staff members are long-time employees, having worked at DCC between seven and 12 years each.

Downtown Children’s Center Activities
Because we are centrally located in downtown Palo Alto, children at DCC are able to participate in frequent, educational day trips. We enjoy story time at Borders Books, make regular trips to Johnson Park, and take field trips to local businesses, such as Round Table Pizza and Whole Foods Market. We also take public transportation to Rinconada Park, the Junior Museum and the Children’s Library.

DCC offers several programs to help children develop their physical and cognitive skills. We offer a Spanish bilingual program (primarily for four- and five-year-olds), as well as weekly cooking and science projects. In the winter, we offer a gymnastics program, and also have a year-round music and movement program with an international theme.

Parent Involvement and Participation
At DCC, we regularly communicate with parents via a monthly newsletter and email parents on children’s progress. We also host several potluck events per year in order to build a sense of community among our children, staff and families.
