Barron Park Children’s Center Goals and Objectives
At Barron Park Children’s Center (BPCC), we believe in a very hands-on environment, and encourage the children to utilize all of their senses through a variety of activities. Our program uses a project approach to curriculum development by taking an idea from the children and building on it throughout the classroom areas. We weave these ideas into the curriculum on a daily basis and explore the idea until the children have satisfied their curiosity.

Our program has five full time staff with over 30 years of combined experience in the field.

Barron Park Children’s Center Activities
Our location on the Barron Park Elementary School site allows us to take advantage of numerous opportunities for enhancing our curriculum. We use the school library twice monthly, and have use of the school grounds and play structure. We are also fortunate enough to connect with PACCC’s school-age program, Barron Park Kids’ Club (BPKC). On Fridays, we do activities with BPKC’s fourth and fifth graders, and periodically have snacks and lunches together.

A daily whiteboard of activities and events is displayed for the children and families to see, and an informal check in time is done at 9:15am to get the day started. At this time, the teacher reviews the whiteboard and answers any questions the children may have about the day.

Our staff rotates responsibilities in both the classroom and the outdoor yard. Art, science and gross motor skill activities are offered daily, along with caring for the live animals at the center and working in the vegetable garden. We also have a twice-weekly pre-kindergarten group that meets to do focused activities. We communicate on an on-going basis with a Barron Park Elementary School kindergarten teacher in order to keep the pre-k focus in line with the school’s expectations.

Parent Information and Participation
For parents, we have bi-monthly meetings with dinner, free childcare and a speaker who presents on topics of interest to parents. All families also participate in our Raising a Reader program, where each family is given books to take home and read with their child.
